Farmers’ Market

Tomorrow will be my first day as a vendor at the Chestertown Farmers’ Market!
I’ll be selling some of my prints (etchings, mezzotints, woodcuts, monotypes…), handmade books and greeting cards (photo and woodcut)!!

The market is held every Saturday (rain or shine) from 8-1pm, and lasts through to the last Saturday in December.

For all the vendors I’ll be working with, here’s a little “luck” I found about a week after St. Patty’s Day this year:

    More monotype prints…

Here’s the second round monotypes I created with my press.
For more information on each piece (title, dimensions, etc) please see my facebook page and “Recent Work” album.

      New work!

I’m finally using my new press!  Here’s a few monotypes I’ve made so far…

To create these monotypes, I painted with oil-based ink/paint on a piece of plexi-glass (in this case, it was 3″x5″), then ran it through the press with a damp piece of paper.  Painting on plexi gives the image more depth than painting straight on paper.  You can use anything to create textures (I mostly used different brushes, Q-tips and matboard edges).

Check out more of my recent monotype session by visiting my facebook art page: Stephanie Somers – Artist / Printmaker and the album: Monotype Prints

      Enjoy!

        the wait is over!

The large box in the driveway contained this BEAUTIFUL etching press (Whelan Xpress) !  Took a few weeks and 5 family members to get this baby through the tiny window you see, and into my basement!  I can’t wait to start using it and creating some new prints!  Oh, and to finish up some of my editions… ;)

Thanks to all who helped make this happen…obtaining and moving the press was not the easiest, or cheapest thing, but will be worth every second and penny!
